We had the second run for the project: Public Rage of Women. This time we started at the Balti Jaam, trainstation.
As soon as I had done my first scream, a security person came to check. I actually think it is good to know, that somebody cares and security will come right away. We were very happy, that we had prepared signs, which say: „Art project – No worries“ and contain a QR-code. So the security officer checked that right away and gave us his okay.
On the other hand a lot of pedestrians changed their route when they heard my scream. They did not come to check. They did not walk on. They walked around us as if they did not want to be involved. That is disappointing.
But I still feel empowered through this project. I know, that I can be really loud. So in case I get into any dangerous situation I think I will be able to scream to people or to an attacking person. I might have to train this a couple more times. But I guess I will manage. This feels good to me. And of course it was again liberating. I could get used to that.
We also had a first this time: Some women that watched us, spontaneously decided to be part of the project. They were tourists from Mexico and with a cruise ship for one day in town. They asked us, what we were doing and we started to talk. Of course the men asked why there are no men in the project. I told them, that they are already aloud to rage in public and do this on an every day basis. But they were nice and interested and finally two women screamed in front of the entrance of Balti Jaam market.
Maybe we will invite bystanders the next time. The project is a work in progress anyway.
